More Katawa Shoujo fanart, this time of everyone’s favorite paranoid misogynist Kenji Setou. This one was a real bitch to draw as I couldn’t get the face to look just right, so I just ended up tracing Ulquiorra Cifer’s eyes on him. I suppose it’s passable.

Practice with digital inking. As it turns out, it’s difficult to draw long lines of consistent but less-than-maximum width when you’ve got pressure sensitivity turned on, so I had to change the pencil size for every line I drew, which kind of defeats the point. At least it’s still useful for detail work and quick brushes, but as far as variable line width goes, I’ll probably be in more luck just sticking to a relatively small pencil size and drawing lines several times over if I want them thicker. In the end, I think the sketch still looks the best out of the three, but eh ― practice makes perfect, I suppose.

For those who didn’t pick it up, the three images portray the lapel of the uniform jacket worn in three different ways.

Another take at the teacher character. Though well, he isn’t so teacher-y in this picture anymore.

Took me some six hours to draw this picture, which is kind of disappointing. This tablet PC stuff just isn’t good for my perfectionist tendencies: with pen and paper, there’s always a point where applying the eraser is only going to make the picture worse, but with a computer you can grind any given line as many times as you want until it’s just the way you want it to be.
Too bad it takes freaking forever.

This thing has been nagging at me for quite some time from the back of my skull, so I finally let it out. I’ve always wanted to try my hand at this whole Dinosaur Comics aesthetic (or well, that was what I was thinking when I made this, but the end result was rather more like Twisp & Catsby), and it was also a good chance to try out digital inking with my tablet. Funnily enough, sketching was still the most painstaking and time-consuming part of the process, but nevertheless I’m glad that it turned out pretty nice.

More fruits of my practice with a tablet. The picture portrays Hisao and Shizune from Katawa Shoujo Sleeping Cute.

Drawing this took some three hours, which I think is actually pretty good, considering it features two characters and a background. Too bad I couldn’t come up with a decent color scheme for the train in that time, though.
